It all began in 1984. Steve Holloway was sitting in a local coffee shop having his morning coffee, when he overheard a customer talking to someone about selling his business. He had a small polishing company that had been around for years. Although he didn't know the first thing about polishing, Steve asked the gentleman how much he was asking for the business. The amount sounded reasonable enough. Not being one to drag his feet, Steve immediately gave his wife a call and asked "What do think?" The following day, Steve and Karren took ownership of the company and renamed it Karoway Polishing. "Kar" for Karren and "oway" for Holloway.
It took some time for Steve to learn all of the ins and outs of the polishing business. He put in long hours, lots of hard work, and learned a lot from trial-and-error. Within three years Karoway grew from a small polishing company and expanded into the pewter casting industry. Steve had taken a few mold making classes and was ready to try his hand at centrifugal casting. Although many people told him that it wasn't a good time to start a casting company, Steve knew that his determination would prove them wrong.
Today, Karoway is a full service casting and polishing company with a solid reputation for quality work at a fair price. Steve believes that the key to Karoway's continuing success is that he didn’t listen to those who told him that the business just couldn’t succeed. That and lots of hard work.
